Australian Jazz and Commercial Recording Artist

Bob Coassin has had the privilege of working with the biggest Jazz and pop artists of his time. Starting out as a teenager in Ray Charles Band in the seventies, he moved on to work with legendary Buddy Rich band and played in Stan Kenton’s final band.

After relocating to Europe in the 80s, he worked as lead trumpet in all the German radio bands, the Peter Herbolzheimer Band, Peter Maffay s Band, and the Skymasters in the Netherlands, and accompanied many top German and European artists. He worked alongside trumpet greats Chuck Findley and Derek Watkins in the all star James last trumpet section from 1980 until 2018.

After moving to Australia in the 90s, he continued to tour in  Europe and also in the USA with Tower of Power.

In Australia he has worked in James Morrison’s big band, and for many years with the iconic John Farnham band. He has  performed in backing bands for touring artists including Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Natalie Cole, Stevie Nicks, Louis Bellson and many others. He has worked in many musical theatre productions and has built up an enviable teaching studio, both privately and in some of the finest secondary schools in Sydney. Bob has held teaching clinics at universities in the USA and in Europe including in Graz at the KUG.
