Trumpet artist

Bob Schultz is one of Australia’s leading Trumpet artists. He has appeared nationally and internationally in concerts with groups and artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Black Sorrows, The Saints, Tom Burlinson, Wilson “Saoko” Monyama and Jimmy Barnes. His festival appearances include; The Falls Festival, Bellingen Global Music Carnival, Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland Music Festival and Sydney Salsa Congress. Bob has appeared as guest Principal Trumpet with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, is member of Brisbane-based group Chukale (one of Australia’s leading Latin ensemble), BoB Brass Quintet (Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University Ensemble in Residence) and Miguel.

After his first professional engagement at the age of 13, Bob’s career continued with extensive work in stage shows, including Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, The Sound of Music, Singing in the Rain, Company and West Side Story, to name but a few. At the same time, Bob became involved in the recording industry, appearing as featured soloist and lead player on numerous albums, TV commercials and radio ads. Notable examples are the upcoming Chukale debut album (featuring the legends of Cuba, members of the Buena Vista Social Club and The Gypsy Kings), “The Final

Conversation of Kings” (latest album of the Australian rock band The Butterfly Effect), and LDG’s latest album “Flame Trees”.

After graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium under the guidance of trumpet legend John Hoffman, Bob has been very active in passing his knowledge and expertise on to the next generation of young trumpet players. He is currently involved with the Queensland Young Conservatorium, Sheldon College (affiliated with the Australian School of the Arts), can regularly be found giving workshops and master classes in Queensland and beyond, and will soon join Australia’s leader in music education, Musica Viva, in taking music into the classrooms and to the future generations.

At home in all styles of music, Bob’s diverse career encompasses jazz, Latin, classical, popular and mixed repertoire. Always striving to expand his artistry and musical reach, he continues to be a major force in the musical scene both in Brisbane and Australia.
